Crisis puts machine builders to the test

The Corona virus pandemic hit Italy early and hard: In spring 2020, it was the most affected country in Europe and the shortage of medical equipment quickly became a serious problem. The Italian government and regional authorities responded by promoting self-produced medical products. An opportunity and at the same time a challenge for MBL Solutions. Founded in 2005, the mechanical engineering company, which began producing packaging machines and is now active in many different areas, such as robotics, has always acted adaptively and with a sense of the requirements of the market. Therefore, MBL Solutions took up the challenge to develop a machine for the production of face masks despite the lack of experience in medical technology and a tight timeframe.

The LPMA-100 sensation

Even the national television channel Rai News 24 reported on the LPMA-100. Why is the mask machine from MBL Solutions so interesting in Italy? On the one hand, it is able to produce up to 100 hygienic and fully packaged face masks fully automatically and in just one minute. On the other hand, it is one of the first machines that offers Italy the opportunity to produce masks themselves. In addition, the project was completed after only four months, which is only half the time normally required to develop such a machine.

Cooperation with MISUMI promotes success

MBL Solutions received support from MISUMI throughout the entire development phase: Thanks to the availability of a large number of components in the one-stop shop and advice from MISUMI's technical staff, MBL Solutions was able to save a lot of time. In particular, the simple configuration of individual components in the MISUMI online shop proved to be a stroke of good luck for MBL Solutions. Overall, the Italian machine manufacturer purchased 40 percent of the mechanical components required from MISUMI. Ultimately, MBL Solutions was able to significantly reduce its development, production, supply chain management and delivery efforts.
