MISUMI Rapid Design: Reducing the design time by 30 percent

Special machine construction faces major challenges: Customers expect increasingly short project times and there are not enough engineers. This is why there is an increased focus on the time factor. A designer looking for work currently has six different jobs to choose from. The consequence: Fewer employees have to do more work. In order to be able to meet the requirements, designers need to have efficient solutions. There is already potential for manufacturers and suppliers to save time; innovative providers are helping their customers to speed up processes. This starts with configuring and ordering components.

Providers play their part in quicker project management with CAD data of components that are easy to find and download. However, issues frequently occur as soon as a component needs to be changed: The part must be searched for again on the website, configured and imported into the CAD software. This takes a lot of time. It is very time-consuming to select exactly the right part, especially for providers with a very large number of different components.

Designers can significantly reduce the time it takes

MISUMI Rapid Design (inCAD Components) makes this extensive process a thing of the past: Designers can now download components, integrate them directly into their CAD software and, if necessary, simply adapt them to their individual requirements. MISUMI Rapid Design (inCAD Components) is a CAD library integrated into SolidWorks and is connected to design tools. The programme already covers 97 percent of MISUMI products at present and is available free of charge in German and English.

This is how MISUMI Rapid Design (inCAD Components) works

The high data density helps designers with economical and efficient purchasing: The price, lead time and various design specifications can be displayed with MISUMI Rapid Design (inCAD Components) with just a few clicks. This enables engineers to plan more reliably, make quicker modifications – or, as the case may be, to select alternative components. SolidWorks users with access to the MISUMI online shop can even order configured parts directly. This helps designers to simplify and accelerate their product development considerably. Figures show that the design time can be reduced by up to 30 percent with MISUMI Rapid Design (inCAD Components).

Time-saving design in three steps

  1. Select the basic product in MISUMI Rapid Design (inCAD Components) and import it to SolidWorks
  2. Configure the component in SolidWorks according to individual requirements and confirm the changes through the add-on
  3. Make any changes to the edited component directly in SolidWorks or through the design window in MISUMI Rapid Design (inCAD Components)
