Hex socket screws

A hex socket screw is used for applications on the inside and outside area. In doing so, for wood and metal connections, there are lag bolts in different variations from hex socket screw with high head and designs with an ultra-flat head.

Lag bolts in different variations

MISUMI lag bolts are available in a plastic, steel or stainless steel design. The lag bolts can withstand a torque strength of 350 N/mm² to1200 N/mm². The torque strength varies depending on the design.

Three materials are available for selection for plastic hex socket screws:

  • Glass fibre reinforced polyamide MXD6 (REMY), which has the highest level of stability and elasticity among plastics. Furthermore, the plastic has a very high degree of oil and heat resistance and therefore, can be used as an alternative to metal.
  • In addition to excellent heat resistance during longer use in high temperatures, PPS polyphenylene sulfide also has an outstanding resistance to chemicals, as well as mechanical properties, electrical properties and dimensional stability.
  • PEEK polyetheretherketone is a good, high-performance plastic and has the highest level of chemical resistance among the technical plastics. PEEK can only be dissolved in concentrated sulphuric acid, it has excellent resistance to heat, abrasion, flames and hydrolysis.

Plastic high hex socket screws with high head are available in a normal or knurled form. Furthermore, variations with a flat or extra-flat head are also available.

The surface colours of the plastic screws can vary depending on production batch and other manufacturing conditions.

A hex socket screw in a steel or stainless steel design is available as a lag bolt with high head, countersunk head, as hex socket cylindrical screws or as a design with a flat or ultra-flat head.

The steel version is black finished or chemically nickel plated.

Suitable for indoor and outdoor use

Head screws with a very flat head are particularly suitable for space-saving applications. Thus, the height of a hex socket screw with an ultra-flat head amounts to 1mm. Hex socket screws with an ultra-flat head has a full thread and are best suited for machines or positions with no play.
