When saving the file, a string can be added before or after the part number.
Welcome to the new MISUMI e-catalogue!
We upgraded our online systems! Find out more here.
When saving the file, a string can be added before or after the part number.
The file name part number cannot be changed to a different string in RAPiD Design.
You can specify a different name and save the file by using SOLIDWORKS "Specify save location," but be aware that if you then use "Save (Ctrl+S)" or save the file under another name in RAPiD Design, the file name will change.
The CAD model save location can be specified when importing.
The save location can be specified when saving with part number .
Also, the previously specified folder location is stored.
With RAPiD Design, the original file is not overwritten.
Refer to the file save system for further details.
When nonstandard dimensions are entered in the design window for components imported from RAPiD Design, an error message is displayed, but you can "Apply to the CAD model." However, you cannot use RAPiD Design "Save with part number." Use SOLIDWORKS "Specify save location" instead.
You can use "Pack & Go" with models imported from RAPiD Design.
Because the detailed specifications are not determined, the model is imported as a base model.
In this case, the folder name will be "BaseModel~." Refer to determining specifications for further details.
When searching with the full part number, the data is imported using that part number.
Because the detailed specifications are not determined, the model is imported as a base model.
Search "ATP30XL025-B-H10" and import to import that part number.
When a component imported from RAPiD Design is copied using SOLIDWORKS functions, it is recognized as the same component in RAPiD Design. As a result, when the component size is changed, all components are changed.
When using the same component in different sizes, import all required elements from RAPiD Design.
When saving from RAPiD Design, you can save each file under a different name to ensure that each component is recognized as an independent component and changes can be made to its size without affecting other components.
A method for easily importing models with different dimensions is introduced here.
The technical information at the end of the catalog and catalog pages can be accessed in PDF format from the design window.
Mates and constraints may be transferred or not transferred depending on the component and what is edited.
Cases in which mates and constraints are transferred:
Edits to the same model, such as changes to dimensions
*Depending on the product, the model may be replaced, so in some cases mates and constraints are not transferred.
Cases in which mates and constraints are not transferred:
When models are changed using the RAPiD Design function to change to a similar shape (click here for details)
Example: For a shaft support and shaft, if a T-shaped shaft support is replaced with an L-shaped shaft support while the shaft and shaft bore match, an error will occur on the feature tree.
Example: Save Linear Guide Rail and Linear Guide Block separately
It is possible to save this way, but after saving separately, you can no longer change dimensions and specifications using RAPiD Design and then use the function for automatically generating the part number that depends on them.
This is possible.
Click on the target component to load dimension information to the design window and enable editing and saving.
1. A part file is created in the specified location.
2. The assembly file is created in the specified location with the part number as the folder name. The component parts are stored inside the folder.
The component parts file names take the form "component part name_part number".
Configurations can be added to RAPiD Design models, but when a configuration is added, the model is recognized as "Not standard parts."
*Only add a configuration after saving with part number with "Reduce file size" enabled. See here for detailed instructions.
RAPiD Design adds multiple features to every model to enable you to change its shape and dimensions after you import it.
When saving with part number, add a check mark to "Reduce file size" to delete folders with features you are not using.
Refer to Operation guide [8] for detailed instructions on how to use "Reduce file size".
Only the density is set for the material information. The assembly components are not defined.
When you want to define the material
When you want to define the material, add a to "Reduce file size" in RAPiD Design and save to prevent data being overwritten by RAPiD Design.
Recording the physical properties in the "MISUMI_materials" table allows various types of analysis.
Refer to Operation guide [8] for detailed instructions on how to use "Reduce file size."
You can use RAPiD Design in the operating environments detailed in the table below.
RAPiD Design files can be opened and edited even on computers that do not have RAPiD Design installed or that are not connected to the Internet.
However, be aware that in some cases the file name part number and model may not match.
Compatible CAD software
SOLIDWORKS (64bit) 2016 to 2019 with the latest service pack installed.
OS
Windows 7, Windows 10
Internet
Required
HDD space required
At least 1.7 GB
CPU/memory/graphics board
Conforms to SOLIDWORKS recommended specifications
If you implement any of the edits below, you risk developing a model that is different from the generated part number.
Editing of relational expressions
Direct editing of property information
Changing dimension names, feature names and component names
If the dimension name, feature name or component name are changed, system-side control is no longer possible and the shape will be different from the one in the catalog drawing.
The property information contains the dimensions required for part number generation and should not be edited or deleted.
*When property information is added by the customer, nothing will be affected.
If you implement any of the edits below, the model will be recognized as "Not standard parts."
When a different dimension value is entered after read-only dimensions are removed
When features are added
When a model is added, deleted or replaced
When a configuration is added
If you need to add a feature or configuration, only do so after saving the part number with "Reduce file size" enabled.
See here for detailed instructions.
Part file
If the Type is changed, the material on the design tree also changes.
The material information contains e.g. density, weight, etc. So do not enter information than the set material.
Assembly file
Material settings are not set. Weight cannot be calculated.
If you implement any of the edits below, the model will be recognized as "Not standard parts" and editing will no longer be possible in RAPiD Design.
When a feature folder alteration is deleted
Deleting the alterations folder leads to a deterioration in system behavior. Please do not delete the folder.
If you do want to delete an alterations folder, refer to Operation guide [8].
When other features are deleted
1. Do not edit using Property Manager.
2. Execute direct editing of dimensions in the graphics areas.
Regarding direct editing of dimensions, change the nominal diameter and bore diameter. (Except when dimensions are fixed)
After changing dimensions in the design window, click the applicable button.
(1) When changing the CAD data shape: "Apply to CAD model" button
(2) When changing the CAD data shape and file name: "Save with part number" button
For RAPiD Design models, all fine threads will not be displayed. Standard threads will be selected instead.
Even if a fine screw thread is selected in alterations, it is not applied to the model.
When a aliteration/option is seleceted the specific dimension are not set. Dimensions highlighted in yellow have to be entered.
Components of RAPiD Design are created in SOLIDWORKS 2012, so an "Older Version File" warning is displayed when they are newly imported into SOLIDWORKS 2013 or later versions. This warning disappears when the imported file is saved.
Always use the latest version of RAPiD Design.
Otherwise, RAPiD Design may not work properly or the model shape may change.
An error message that is displayed temporarily when there is a problem with models for RAPiD Design created by your company.
If you have need of a model for which this message is displayed, please download it from our website. We apologize for the inconvenience.
RAPiD Design may not operate correctly while multiple instances of SOLIDWORKS are running (whether they are all the same version or different versions).
Do not use RAPiD Design while multiple instances of SOLIDWORKS are running.
For RAPiD Design “version.2.3” or earlier users
Please attempt the following solutions if the design window does not show any products.
For RAPiD Design “version.2.4” users
Please send us a message if the design window does not show any products here.
Solution 1: Repair ‘Microsoft SQL Server’
Solution 2: Change settings of security software
Please try solution 1 first. If the design window still does not show up, try solution 2.
1. Stop your security software temporarily.
*You may have to consult with your IT division or helpdesk to do this step.
2. Open Control Panel and select “Uninstall a program”
Find 'Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express LocalDB’ right click on it and select “Repair”.
3. When the Repair operation is complete, restart your computer.
In some cases, security software will prevent ‘RAPiD Design’ from working properly. Please change ‘RAPiD Design’ to allowed programs in the security software.
*You may have to consult with your IT division or helpdesk to do this step.
