Because every minute of life is precious ... MISUMI supports the Bärenherz Children's Hospice

"We cannot get rid of death in our lives, not even the death of children. However, in the most difficult living situation of a family, we can offer a hospice where they will find understanding, closeness, help and empathy, without distinction of social or cultural origin", says Claudia Langanki, director of Bärenherz Children's Hospice and who knows just how special the Bärenherz is in Wiesbaden.

Unlike many expect, life is the focus here, not death. "We live together, we laugh, we have fun together. We are sad, we cry and we take heart. Life and death are inseparable and find a home with us. No one is alone. Around the clock, there are contact partners, loving care and the feeling of being understood. We provide a relative normality without time pressure, without white coats and without strict planning. The needs of children and families are the most important thing". Even after the death of the child, the hospice continues to care for the families, if this is desired. "When a child comes to us in the morning and dies in the evening, that child has lived a day with us", she says as she summarises what characterises everyday life in Bärenherz Children's Hospice.

"There is no other place where families like us handle the farewell as well as here in Bärenherz", said a mother whose half year-old son died at Bärenherz Children's Hospice.

The Wiesbaden Bärenherz Foundation is committed to being there for people who have to experience this extreme situation. It finances 60% of two children's hospices and a permanent care facility for severely disabled children and young people through donations. More than 330 children and their families have found a comforting place at Bärenherz in Wiesbaden since 2002.
