Vibration damper

A vibration damper is given a great responsibility as a component in many systems. Thus reliable damping and a long service life are the most important attributes when using vibration dampers. MISUMI has a large spectrum of vibration dampers on offer, that offer many mounting possibilities

Range of application for vibration dampers

Vibration dampers a system for absorbing mechanical vibrations. During this process the kinetic energy is transformed into thermal energy. Vibration dampers are used, above all, on machines where, as a result of continuous vibrations, impacts and shocks, unpleasant damage or unwanted malfunctions can be caused. Especially with a view to occupational safety for the employees and the service life of the machines vibration dampers are an important aid in the working process of industrial machines. Due to the divers configuration possibilities MISUMI vibration dampers are, with respect to the possibilities of use, variable and adaptable to the respective area of operation. The MISUMI assortment includes, among others, gel dampers, gel bushes, vibration damping rubber coatings, gel mats as well as vibration dampers with bolts and thread.H3: Angular ball bearing with housing

Vibration dampers with bolts and thread for mounting on plates

This version of the vibration damper for mounting on plates can convince with its low space requirement for installation. The installation of the versions with split bolts is even easier. Versions with one-sided or two-sided stud bolts can be selected. Besides which there is a version with an female thread and bolts with a male thread.

Examples of a cross-sectional perspective:

There are two materials to choose from the basic rubber housing for the vibration damper: Here natural rubber and chloroprene rubber offer optimal damping characteristics.

Due to the configurable design with stud bolts / inside threads the vibration dampers are optimally suited for every type of mounting:

Alternative vibration dampers: vibration damping rubber brackets

Vibration damping rubber brackets offer, in addition to their excellent attributes as vibration dampers, the possibility of cancelling the insulation effect of conventional rubber. The electrically very conductive rubber in this version has a specific insulation resistance of 10²Ω-cm. As a result of the configurable stud bolts and female threads the vibration damping rubber brackets are similarly easy to fit as the conventional vibration dampers for plate mounting. Especially the screwdriver slit and the slotted holes on the plates simplify the fitting. The slits serve to prevent rotational movements during tightening. Simply hold tight with a flat-bladed screw driver or a similar instrument.

Gel damper as vibration damper

Silicon vibration dampers have a higher fatigue life than rubber dampers. They are suitable for light loads and very low vibrations.

Vibration damper with flexible installation: Gel bushes

Gel bushes are available for special installations scenarios, e.g optimally suited for hollow spaces and cavities. The basic body of the bush also consists of silicon. Due to a through bolt the horizontal misalignment is minimised.

Version with vibration damping gel and rubber coating

In addition to the vibration damping characteristics of the silicon this special design offers a rubber coating. The silicon used for the basic body is coated with ethylene rubber and is, as a result, very weather resistant. These vibration dampers are particularly suitable for outdoor use.

Vibration damping gel mats

Gel mats as vibration dampers are suitable for light loads and minimal vibrations, which, for vibration damping rubber, are difficult to absorb. In addition they offer more stability as a result of heat treatment. They also do not have a secondary of tertiary resonance which would have a negative effect on the vibration damping properties, The gel mats can easily be cut between the nubs using a multi-purpose knife. Following must be observed when fastening gel mat:

  • The load must be evenly distributed on the vibration damper.
  • Vibration damping gel articles are only suitable for use with vertical loads. Install BGELP- and BGELA-bushes so that the side with the smaller diameter is upwards.
  • Mounting with an offset or a twist reduces the effectiveness and the service life drastically.
  • The vibration dampers may not be subjected to mechanical stress.
  • Since a pressure sensitive adhesive is used, sufficient pressure must be ensured so that the joint is reliably formed.

Caution:

  • As a result of being pressed together the height is reduced under load.
  • Don’t remove the rubber burrs around the studs, since these prevent a separation of stud and materials for vibration damping.
